You Must Become A "Slogan-Slinging Son Of A Gun" - A Buzzology Tip.

You Must Become A "Slogan-Slinging Son Of A Gun."

People remember catch phrases, slogans, mottos, and declarative statements. These snippets of messaging are a part of name-recognition and branding. While it may help to have a mascot, such as a gecko or a duck (just for the sake of illustration), these don't help when you are communicating by spoken or printed word.

Examples:

"If it does not fit, you must acquit!"

"It all depends upon what your definition of what the word 'is' is."

"Obey your thirst."

"Just do it."

"Can fifteen minutes save you fifteen percent on car insurance?"

"Just ask your neighbor."

"All news all the time"

The techniques to make these bits of information magnetic and sticky are basic, and you may use any mixture of them to suit your purpose. To excel at crafting a brand, a campaign, a hyber-buzz hit, a name recognition revolution, these devices should be used to your greatest possible advantage...and you'll be know as a "Slogan-Slinging Son Of A Gun" - a designation (or even an appelation!) which you will wear with pride. From the TNNWC BUZZWORKS Buzzology Playbook , we have these:

1) be brief.
2) be humorous or witty.
3) incorporate rhyme.
4) incorporate rhythm (I cannot overstress the need for Spellcheck).
5) use alliteration where possible.
6) have the words bear a "marching cadence."
7) ask a personal question.
8) make a command.
9) make it musical, or "sing-song" - people still like singable jingles...but so few of us still write them.
10) create an outstanding 'word picture' in your readers' or listeners' minds.


Take these tips (from Poppy). If you do it right, you'll be a winner. If you do it improperly, your feeble attempt at sloganation will be for nought. If you want it done brilliantly, you may wish to seek professional help; not a psychiatrist, per se, but through the word wizardry of TNNWC BUZZWORKS. Because Buzz Works.
