BLOOPERS! Use 'em. Your Trash Is Treasure!


Yes indeed. The movie was good. The theme song will be memorable for perhaps six months to a year. The credits are an endless bore, but we sit, paralyzed, waiting to find out who the caterer to the on-site assistant junior accountant was...

What do we love? Outtakes! Bloopers! Embarrassing failed attempts! Stunts gone wrong.

People enjoy seeing the failed attempts that go into making a success. The block of boopers at the end of a good movie (no matter who its stars and what its subject) is actually an enhancement to the show. They may or may not be funny, but they are very Humanizing, always interesting, and are truly "THE MOVIE BEHIND THE MOVIE."

When you have commercials, presentations...any type of media production, save the bloopers. They tell a story about the making of your production that is as interesting to your audience (if not more so) than the production itself. We are all a bit voyeuristic -- we enjoy a sneak peek behind the curtain.

Cater to your prospective market's natural curiosity -- their compulsion to look at the body under the sheet, or into the medicine cabinet (admit it -- at one time or another, you have looked into someone else's medicine cabinet while in their bathroom), or into the slightly open window or door. The open kimono effect is wonderful to exploit.

Not only are your bloopers entertaining, but they show your Humanity, your character, your effort, your tenacity... and ultimately: your self-confidence in your own brand identity and organization. People identify with trial and error, dedicated effort and a celebration of a finished product. Give them a special pass to get behind the scenes with the visionaries and stars who built something together as a team.
