A SUBLIMINAL MESSAGE IS A SIGNAL (A GROUP OF PRINTED WORDS AS TEXT, A SUB-AUDIO OR SOUND-OBSCURED VOCAL COMMAND OR A SUGGESTIVE PICTURE OR SYMBOL) EMBEDDED IN ANOTHER MEDIUM. THESE MESSAGES ARE DESIGNED TO PASS BELOW THE NORMAL LIMITS OF THE HUMAN MIND’S PERCEPTION.  THE TECHNIQUES USED TO ACHIEVE THIS ARE 1) SPEED (FLASH) AND 2) CAMOUFLAGE. IN ORDER TO ENHANCE THIS EFFECT, REPETITION IS VERY POWERFUL, AS IS THE USE OF MIXED SUBLIMINAL FORMS

THESE MESSAGES ARE GENERALLY UNRECOGNIZABLE BY THE CONSCIOUS MIND, BUT IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS CAN AFFECT THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND AND CAN NEGATIVELY OR POSITIVELY INFLUENCE SUBSEQUENT LATER THOUGHTS, BEHAVIORS, ACTIONS, ATTITUDES, BELIEF SYSTEMS AND VALUE SYSTEMS.

THESE SIGNALS TO THE SUBCONSCIOUS ARE GENERALLY ABOUT SIMPLE, PRIMAL OR IMPULSIVE BEHAVIORS, INCLUDING SEX, VIOLENCE, HUNGER, THIRST, BODILY FUNCTIONS, WEALTH, SUCCESS, SAFETY, SECURITY, ACCEPTANCE, SLEEPINESS, RECEPTIVENESS AND OBEYING AUTHORITY.

The most effective printed subliminal images (in "rapid flash short burst" form) are simply worded (between one and five words), appear in relatively large print or type size, and are colored in accordance with the nature of their message. For example, a message about sex may use white, red or pink; a message about violence may use red, orange and black; a message about hunger may use mustard yellow or ketchup red; a message about money, power or wealth may use green and gold; a message about relaxation may be in some shade of blue or aqua.

The most effective camouflaged printed or imaged subliminal messages (embedded in photos, in printed ads, and the like, i.e., where they will be seen for a longer period of time) are subtle, and are made to blend gracefully and seamlessly into the picture or photograph. While these gems are usually camouflaged well, the subconscious mind, upon its re-processing and analysis of the photo or ad, will find the primal or simple message or symbol and focus directly in on it, like a Sigmund Freud cigar-shaped missile.

Incidentally, regardless of anything which you might have heard to the contrary, subliminal messages are used constantly and they are virtually everywhere. Ironically, the same governments which want to restrict the use of this subconscious informational delivery device make routine use of it, and have made use of it since its discovery. Hidden persuaders are are ordinary part of psychological warfare and the maintenance of order. Sounds manipulative and frightening -- it is. And it is very effective.
